Rhino by jayshree Rhino by jayshree
This photo was from my trip to the Gladys Porter Zoo a few months ago. I have been looking at my zoo pics, and overall, I think I suck as an animal photographer. Oh well. :( This photo is dedicated to =kat1e-. She loved it and encouraged me to submit it. :) :boogie: yay!

I would beg to differ, ma'am! :D The composition is excellent, the clarity offered by the contrasts, superb...the entire picture has an aura of stillness, gravity, very appropriate for a rhino. And this isn't the first time I've been impressed by your animal photography. So don't be so hard on yourself!

I read your journal last night and I am glad you went to the doctor. All you need to do is go to the ER here in the states, tell them that you cannot handle the pain regardless of whether it hurts right now or not, they cannot tell you it doesn't hurt. They will do the surgery and you will be billed for it, they won't turn you away and I think you should have it done here anyway not somewhere where you have to worry about complications.

i just found out the cost of the surgery here in the states is $25,000. i just feel like crying today. there are no words for what i'm feeling right now.

You just need to go to ER Jen, that's the bottom line, they have to do the surgery first and then worry about money. I went through the same thing with my kidney stones, I have had 2 surgeries and both I had no money up front, they billed me and by the time I ended up paying on it the county picked up over half of it, I still don't have it paid off but they allow me to pay this ridiculously low monthly payment, $25 a month on one and $20 on the other and I know I will be paying it forever but it keeps them from sending it to creditors and I feel great, pain free for years now. The 2nd time I went in I wasn't in that much pain but I told them I was and they have no way of judging pain level with this stuff, they will check you out, see that there is an existing problem and take care of it.

do you remember how much your surgery was total? i'm just curious about the financial aspect. i'm trying to come up with all kinds of options right now.

You certainly don't "suck" Jen. It's a great photo and a great composition. The head is right in the Rule of Thirds, whether you did it intentionally or not. Good job :)

well thank you. it just sucks when my intuition is telling me 2 things at once. that gets quite confusing. except with photography. cuz then i can just take a bunch of different pics and decide later. lol
